Origin & History
Residents of 20 Block Tilak Nagar were immigrant from Pakistan Tehrah region. The Community of the block formed a society in the year 1974, in the name of Gurudwara Guru SangatSabha with already existing Gurudwara Sahib in the block. The society, aimed at serving the humanity, formed a school management to run and cater quality education to the people of 20 Block and nearby surroundings. Thus, Guru Amar Das Public School was openedin the year 1978, in the name of 3rd Guru Sri Guru Amar Das ji. The land to the school was given by the society permanently for the purpose of education. The School initially started upto primary level under the Chairmanship of S.Rawel Singh and Manager S. Gurcharan Singh. Their untiring efforts and commitment to the school, led the school to achieve recognition upto X in the year 1998.
S. Harbans Singh was elected as the new chairman of the school in year 2002. S. Mohinder Singh was appointed as the next manager of the school under whose guidance new school building was constructed. The school flourished under his guidance in all scholastic & non- scholastic areas.
S. Mohinder Singh was relieved from the service in August 2007 and he was succeeded by S. Surjit Singh as the next Manager. He introduced modern technique of education i.e computer education under the guidance of NIIT.He along with the new Chairperson S. Kanwaljeet Singh, deputed in the year 2012, went on to introduce Smart Classes with Mexus& Extra Marks in the school and also developed new Design & Technology Lab, the expertise in logical skills and factual development of the child.
Since its establishment the school has acquired strength and achieved heights of excellence in various fields.
